Get ready for more of Robin Thede’s A Black Lady Sketch Show because the Emmy-nominated sketch comedy series has been renewed for a third season at HBO.

Once again, the sophomore season of ABLSS — which is currently rolling out now — features a core cast of Black women living relatable, hilarious experiences in a magical reality that subverts traditional expectations. The announcement of the renewal comes ahead of the season 2 finale on May 28.

“Making A Black Lady Sketch Show is a dream come true and I’m honored to continue our incredible series and Robin Thede, Creator, Showrunner, Executive Producer, Writer and Star quote:wonderful partnership with HBO, Issa Rae, JAX Media and our entire producing team,” said Robin Thede, ABLSS creator, showrunner, executive producer, writer and star. “I can’t wait to push the show even further in Season 3 and to keep delivering the laugh out loud content our audience loves to see! I see this show as a budding comedy institution, where Black women can play fully realized, non-stereotypical characters and I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue to create that space for today’s premiere comedians.”

Also, the show deserves an Emmy or some sort of accolade for this season’s opening credits.

Thede serves as creator/showrunner/writer/star and executive produces alongside Issa Rae for HOORAE. Executive producers also include Dave Becky, Jonathan Berry for 3 Arts Entertainment as well as executive producers,Tony Hernandez, Brooke Posch for JAX Media. Lauren Ashley Smith serves as head writer/co-executive producer. Producers are Deniese Davis, Montrel McKay for HOORAE as well as John Skidmore for JAX Media.
