Moonlight and The United States vs. Billie Holiday star Trevante Rhodes has been cast to star as boxer and pop culture icon Mike Tyson in Hulu’s upcoming limited series Iron Mike.

I have a feeling Rhodes was cast not only for his superb acting chops but because it will be an excuse to see him with his shirt off in a lot of scenes.

The gang that brought you the hilariously sad I, Tonya will bring Tyson’s life to the streamer with an eight-episode drama that will dive into the wild, tragic and controversial life and career of the well-known sports figure — and we all know that he has lived a bonkers life and continues to do so. Even so, Tyson isn’t involved in the making of the series but apparently Hulu let him know what was going down. That said, this should be interesting. Start casting your dream actors for the Robin Givens-Brad Pitt moment of Tyson’s life.

I, Tonya screenwriter Steven Rogers created the series, with Karin Gist is attached to be showrunner and executive producer. Rhodes will also executive produce the series alongside series director Craig Gillespie, who was also on the I, Tonya squad. Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley will also executive produce under Robbie’s LuckyChap banner. Entertainment 360’s Darin Friedman will also exec produce alongside Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless and Scott Morgan.
