Dear White People and Bad Hair director Justin Simien is about to serve us some Hatbox Ghost scares! Simien has been tapped to direct Disney’s forthcoming Haunted Mansion.
Deadline broke the news that Simien would take us into a spooky fantasy based on the iconic Haunted Mansion theme park attraction Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will produce via their Rideback banner with Rideback’s Nick Reynolds stepping in as executive producer. Katie Dippold wrote the most recent draft of the script.
Of course, this will not erase the iconic 2003 adaptation directed by Rob Minkoff and starring Eddie Murphy.
This is part of Disney theme park ride cinematic universe which includes Pirates of the Caribbean as well as Jungle Cruise which debuts in theaters on July 30.
I am looking forward to the film adaptation of those turkey leg stands you see at Disneyland.
