Actress Maya Erskine is going from the awkward teenage years of PEN15 to a galaxy far, far away in Disney+’s forthcoming Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Deadline exclusively reported that Erskine joins the series in a supporting role and will appear in at least three episodes, we hear. No word yet on what her role will be, but it’s a Star Wars series. It’s gonna be awesome.
Erskine will join Ewan McGregor who reprises his role as the titular jedi as well as Hayden Christen who will return to the franchise as Darth Vader. The cast also includes Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.
Like all Star Wars series and movies, nothing is really being revealed about Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, what we do know is that it takes place 10 years after Revenge Of The Sith and nine years before A New Hope. This means that the Jedi Order is a thing of the past… so I am guessing this is not a comedy.
In addition to the hilariously uncomfortable Hulu puberty comedy PEN15, which she created with her co-star Anna Konkle, Erskine was also seen Insecure and Casual. On the film side, she starred in the indie comedy Plus One and will star alongside Michael Cera and Michael Angarano in the upcoming pic Sacramento.
