Rian Johnson’s upcoming Knives Out 2 just got a little more colorful.

According to the girls at The Hollywood Reporter, Janelle Monae is in talks to join the sequel to the ensemble murder mystery which Lionsgate released in 2019 and is now at Netflix. Deadline also reports that Dave Bautista is circling a role in the whodunit romp.

The plot to the sequel is under wraps so we don’t know who the hell they are playing, but seeing two POCs join the project is refreshing. The first film featured Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Riki Lindhome and the late, great Christopher Plummer. Ana de Armas, LaKeith Stanfield and Jaeden Martell (Surprise! He is of Korean descent!) were also part of the cast.

Daniel Craig is set to reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc for the next two — yes two — installments of Knives Out. Edward Norton has also been tapped to join the cast.

With Monae and Bautista joining the cast, our knives are sharpened and we are ready to cut into this project to enjoy every last morsel.
