Holy diversity Batman! Or should I say Batgirl?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have been tapped to direct Batgirl which was written by Eurasian queen Christina Hodson who directed the underrated Bumblebee and the DC-universe candy-coated romp  Birds of Prey. She is also penning the upcoming The Flash feature. She’s a busy gal! Maybe Warner Bros. should have let her — or another woman direct this female-fronted superhero movie… but that is a different conversation. Nonetheless, Batgirl is set for HBO Max.

Producer Kristin Burr told THR, “With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham. Christina’s script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have an excited and joyous energy, which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Batproject. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool.”

Joss Whedon was on board for Batgirl in March 2017 but stepped away April 2018. Considering all that is being said about him with toxic workplace environments, maybe it’s best that he sat this one out.

The Euro-Moroccan duo isn’t a stranger to the superhero world as they recently served as co-showrunners of the first-ever South Asian-fronted Disney+ series Ms. Marvel starring Iman Vellani.
