A new trailer for  Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings debuted ESPN right before game 3 of the Western Conference finals and it gave us more of plot of the forthcoming superhero pic and a lot more Simu Liu good good.

From the trailer alone we know this is gonna be a birth of a new kind of Marvel superhero (i.e. an Asian one) and  we also know that Michelle Yeoh is gonna slay. We also love a story about daddy issues.

“Shang-Chi’s main problem in his life is rooted in not knowing who he really is,” said director Destin Daniel Cretton. “He has to learn how to own every part of himself. If he doesn’t allow himself to look at all of it—the good, the bad, the light and the dark—and to own it all, he won’t be able to reach his full potential.”

Liu stars as the titular Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. The film also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng.

Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings opens in theaters on September 3. Watch the trailer above.
