Awards shows have been boring or utter trash as of late but I think we can say that last night’s BET Awards hosted by Taraji P. Henson were… really good.

First off, icon, Queen Latifah (aka Dana Owens) was honored with the lifetime achievement award and was honored with a sickening tribute performance by Rapsody, Monie Love, Lil Kim, and MC Lyte.

Queen also gave us an emotional acceptance speech that ended with Pride.

Speaking of Pride, Lil Nas X unapologetically gave us queer excellence and devoured the stage, giving us an iconic performance that is up there with Madonna’s “Vogue” performance from the VMAs in 1990.

Then there was Megan Thee Stallion who always delivers all that good good. In addition to winning big during the ceremony, she dropped it like its THOT with this performance.

This was just the tip of the iceberg when it came to phenomenal moments and performances. Silk Sonic delivered us R&B realness while teasing their album; H.E.R. proved that she is the next evolution of amazing  instrumentalists. while a tribute to DMX had us all thinking Michael K. Williams should play him in a biopic.

It was a hella good awards show and we love to see it.
