- When They See Us king Asante Blackk is set to star opposite of Tiffany Haddish in MGM and Plan B’s upcoming adaptation of M.T. Anderson’s novel Landscape With Invisible Hand.
- Apple is developing a drama series about Negro League Baseball with Magic Johnson as producer. The series will explore the story of Negro League Baseball using the life and legacy of the legendary athlete and showman Leroy “Satchel” Paige, one of baseball’s greatest pitchers and star of Negro Leagues for many years.
- Gabrielle Union is bringing Tamara Winfrey-Harris’ award-winning book The Sisters Are Alright: Changing the Broken Narrative of Black Women In America to TV!

- Ruby Barker is going from the regal horniness of Bridgerton to the high-concept horror/thriller Baghead.
- So The Weeknd is creating an HBO drama with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson called The Idol… this might be interesting.
- Th Critics Choice Association is now taking on the world with the World Movie Awards, designed to honor the finest in non-English-language films, beginning in 2022.
- Mr. Robot creator is Sam Esmail developing the alt-history family drama The American Throne which which follows a modern-day American monarchy where the royal family finds out a there’s a Black son who is the heir to their white throne — this sounds juicy.

- Nico Parker joins Pedro Pascal in HBO’s series adaptation as Joel’ of the popular video game The Last of Us as Joel’s daughter.

- O’Shea Jackson is joining Keri Russell and Jesse Tyler Ferguson in Elizabeth Banks’ directorial sophomore feature Cocaine Bear. I’m dying to sniff this one.
- Lifetime has greenlit the original thriller Safe Space starring Nicole Ari Parker, Boris Kodjoe (who also makes his directorial debut and Nik Sanchez as well as Mackenzie Astin and Drea de Matteo.
- Chandler Kinney and Maia Reficco are set to lead Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, a darker, present-day iteration of the original series.
- Travis “Taco” Bennett — who can be seen in FX’s Dave is set to star in Johnathan Glickman’s comedy caper California King.
- Lisa Vidal, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Carlos Miranda, and Sasha Merci are attached to star in crime-action heist feature Shelter.
