ABC has picked up Matt Lopez‘s Latinx drama Promised Land to series. The show is described as an epic, generation-spanning drama about two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley and stars John Ortiz, Cecilia Suárez, Augusto Aguilera, Christina Ochoa, Mariel Molino, Tonatiuh, Andres Velez, Katya Martín and Rolando Chusan.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been tapped to star in the Steve Caple Jr.-directed dystopian crime thriller By All.
All American‘s Jalyn Hall is set to play Emmett Till in Chinonye Chukwu’s Till. He joins Danielle Deadwyler and Whoopi Goldberg in the film based on the original research of Keith Beauchamp for his award-winning 2005 doc The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till.
Netflix has revealed the cast for the live adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender — and it’s less problematic than that feature in 2010 that many would like to forget. The cast includes Gordon Cormier,Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, and Dallas Liu.

Courtney A. Kemp made a Power move (see what I did there) and moves from Lionsgate Television to Netflix with a rich overall deal. Nishika Kumble has been named VP scripted television for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix-based production company, Archewell Productions. Tia Mowry’s Quick Fix is headed to cable as Urban One’s TV One and Cleo TV have struck a multi-year licensing deal with Kin to bring the digital series to Cleo TV.
