Bad news: Insecure is ending after its fifth and final season. Good news: based on the trailer, it’s gonna be an excellent season. Better news: HBO is celebrating the last season with the invite-only “Insecure Fest” block party in Los Angeles on October 23.

Insecure Fest, which will be hosted by hosted by Crissle West and Francheska Medina of the InsecuriTEA Podcast. Attendees will chance to view an exclusive screening of the season 5 premiere episode, watch surprise music performances and include a retrospective photo installation. Throughout the day, food will be served by local Black-owned vendors including Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen – Slauson.

Guests will also have the opportunity to experience an interactive preview of Insecure: The Come Up Gamea rap-based mobile game where users navigate the messy business of adulting with Issa, Molly, Kelli, Tiffany, Lawrence and Chad as their guides.

Don’t worry — COVID protocols will be in place for festival attendees.

“We’re so excited to bring our community together to honor Insecure and send the series off with a celebratory block party for the final time,” said Jackie Gagne, Senior Vice President, Multicultural Marketing at HBO Max and HBO. “Insecure has been a significant part of our programming for the past six years and Issa’s storytelling has had a profound cultural impact on our audience. Promoting this series has been a joy and privilege, and we look forward to continuing the mission of elevating authentic Black stories in the years to come.”

“Since day one, HBO has served as the perfect home for our Insecure family,” added Issa Rae, creator and star of Insecure. “From the first ‘Inglewood’ first block party in Brooklyn, to taking over a soccer stadium in LA to inspiring our plot lines, the Multicultural Marketing team has set the standard. I’m beyond excited to be in my community, enjoy the music, good vibes and our wonderful supporters for one last time.”

Fans who can’t attend Insecure Fest in person will be able to experience the festival with live coverage via Instagram stories across the @InsecureHBO and @SceneinBlack social handles.

The highly-acclaimed Insecure Block Party experience kicked off season one with an intimate daylong gathering in Brooklyn, NY. Season two’s premiere returned to show creator Issa Rae’s roots (and the show’s setting) of Inglewood, California, taking over a full city block for a full-day experience.

Season three took the annual event to a new level with nearly 5,000 guests attending the InsecureFest block party that converted LAFC’s Soccer Stadium into a carnival-themed premiere experience. For the highly anticipated fourth season, the block party turned virtual during the pandemic, delivering a live Q&A with creator Issa Rae and cast, a DJ set by Zaytoven; a live watch party, and a post-episode live concert by rapper Jidenna via Instagram and Twitter to fans excited for the show to return after a one-year hiatus. Each year the event has featured incredible musical performances by artists like SZA, Ty Dolla $ign, 2Chainz, Jorja Smith.

The fifth season also stars series regulars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales, Kendrick Sampson and Courtney Taylor. Insecure was created by Issa Rae & Larry Wilmore; executive produced by Issa Rae, Prentice Penny, Melina Matsoukas, Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky, Jonathan Berry, Amy Aniobi and Jim Kleverweis.

The final season of Insecure premieres exclusively on HBO on October 24 at 10pm ET/PT and will be available to stream on HBO Max.

Let’s just hope that you won’t have a fight like Issa and Molly did during the block party last season. Oof. That was an epic fight. However, if you want to put on a British accent to impress somebody you wanna smash like Kelli, we welcome it.
