Amazon Prime Video has released the first look at their upcoming series Harlem. The 10-episode comedy is written, directed, and produced by Tracy Oliver, the mind behind the celebrated feature Girl’s Trip, and the television adaption of First Wives Club.
Oliver’s newest project centers on a tight-knit group of four women in their 30s living in the titular “Black mecca,” Harlem. Megan Good, Grace Byers, Shoniqua Shandai, and Jerrie Johnson star, respectively, as the ambitious professor Camille, the fashion designer and hopeless romantic Quinn, the singer with no filter Angie, and the serial dating tech entrepreneur Tye. The series is inspired by shows like Sex and the City, Girlfriends, and Living Single.
Harlem debuts on Prime Video on December 3 and will follow Camille, Quinn, Angie, and Tye as they continue to progress in their careers while exploring their love lives. Good isn’t the only all-star to join the cast; Whoopi Goldberg and Jasmine Guy play recurring roles in the series. Tyler Lepley, series regular on Showtime’s breakout series P-Valley, will also have a starting role. Harlem is produced by Amazon Studios and Universal Television with Pharrell Williams, Mimi Valdés, Amy Poehler, Kim Lessing, and Dave Becky as executive producers. Malcolm D. Lee of Girl’s Trip directed the first two episodes.
