Ever since we saw John Cho as Spike Spiegel in that sickening blazer and that coif, the masses have been ready to see more of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop… so here’s the first official trailer.

The trailer dropped today at a live virtual event with Cho and his co-stars Mustafa Shakir and Daniella Pineda who star alongside as Jet Black and Faye Valentine, respectively. The series also stars Alex Hassell and Elena Satine. All we need is some noodles and we’ll be good to go.

Cowboy Bebop is definitely giving some Scott Pilgrim energy with its kinetic action and scenes that are living embodiments of an anime series. It’s wild… and there’s a corgi to boot!

Merging sci-fi and western genres, the series follows the aforementioned three bounty hunters — aka “cowboys”. They all have baggage from their pasts that they are trying to outrun. As different as they are deadly, the three are a dysfunctional, scrappy, and snarky crew that are ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them.

The series is executive produced by André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, Makoto Asanuma, Shin Sasaki and Masayuki Ozaki of Sunrise Inc., Tim Coddington, Tetsu Fujimura, Michael Katleman, Matthew Weinberg, and Christopher Yost. Nemec serves as showrunner. Original anime series director Shinichirō Watanabe is a consultant on the series, and original composer Yoko Kanno returns for the live-action adaptation.
