The Craig of the Creek franchise is expanding with two new project green lights and a fifth season pickup. The critically acclaimed series is adding a preschool spinoff series and an original movie to the Creek.
Critics and fans have praised Craig of the Creek for its authentic storytelling and representation of black family life, with behind-the-scenes talent that reflects the on-screen diversity. With inclusive storylines and beloved characters, the series is Emmy – GLAAD – and NAACP Image Award-nominated.
Craig of the Creek season five will premiere in early 2023 on HBO Max and Cartoon Network and continues the story of Craig (Philip Solomon) and his best friend Kelsey (Noël Wells) and J.P. (H. Michael Croner) as they transform everyday afternoons into extraordinary adventures through imaginative play at the neighborhood creek.
Also coming to HBO Max and Cartoon Network in 2023 is Craig of the Creek: The Movie, the animated origin story of Craig Williams, the Creek’s bravest adventurer. Taking viewers back in time to when Craig was the shy, new kid in town, the movie follows him as he sets off on the biggest treasure hunting adventure he could ever dream of.
Jessica’s Big Little World, the preschool spinoff, also premiering in 2023 on Cartoonito, centers on Craig’s adorable little sister, Jessica (Lucia Grace Cunningham), as she navigates her way through a world where everything seems much bigger than she is. In true resilient little sister fashion, Jessica is persistent and creative while she conquers monumental kids tasks. The preschool series will weave themes of communication, imaginative play, perseverance, and embracing age-appropriate strategies for overcoming obstacles throughout.
Craig of the Creek, Craig of the Creek: The Movie, and Jessica’s Big Little World are executive produced and co-created by Emmy-nominated Steven Universe writers Matt Burnett and Ben Levin. Jessica’s Big Little World is executive produced and co-created by former Craig of the Creek supervising director, Tiffany Ford.
