Hulu has given an 8-episode series order to the adaptation of Alexis Schaitkin’s debut novel, Saint X from ABC Signature with celebrated Mudbound and Pariah filmmaker Dee Rees set to direct.

Saint X is a psychological drama, told in multiple timelines and perspectives, which explores and upends the girl-gone-missing genre. It’s a show about how a young woman’s mysterious death during an idyllic Caribbean vacation creates a traumatic ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth.

Hulu adds Saint X to its slate of book-to-screen adaptations which have proved to be favorites and award contenders on the streaming platform including award-winning series The Handmaid’s Tale, Shrill, Little Fires Everywhere, Normal People, Nine Perfect Strangers and upcoming Conversations with Friends.

Rees and Schaitkin will executive produce Saint X alongside Leila Gerstein who will write the series. Executive producers are also Stephen Williams, Anonymous Content, and DreamCrew Entertainment.
