Teresa Hsiao is moving on up as she has signed an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, Deadline reports.
The co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner of Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens at Comedy Central will develop comedy and animation for cable streaming platforms via her Red 136 Productions banner.
“The first pilot I ever sold was with Sony, so I’m really excited to come full circle and make more fun, weird content with this great team,” Hsiao said.
Nora From Queens had its season two finale in October 2021. Up next for Hsiao is the yet-to-be-titled R-rated Lionsgate comedy directed by Adele Lim which Hsiao co-wrote with Cherry Chevapravatdumrong. She also serves as the producer of the comedy which stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu.
Hsiao c also redits include Fresh Off The Boat, American Dad!, Black Monday and Family Guy.
