Minhal Baig, writer and director of Hala, is set to team with author Iain Reid to adapt his upcoming novel We Spread which is set to be published in September by Scout Press.
Baig will direct and co-write the script with Reid, THR reports. We Spread follows an aging artist who, after the death of her partner, is moved into a unique long-term care residence where she begins to distrust her day-to-day reality.
Anonymous Content acquired the novel and Kerry Kohansky-Roberts will produce. Robert Walak and Whitney Dibo will oversee on behalf of the company’s AC Studios, which also released the Apple feature Swan Song — another story about mortality — earlier this year.
In addition to We Spread, Baig is also adapting Samantha Schweblin’s Mouthful of Birds under her overall television deal with Amazon Studios. She is repped by CAA, 3 Arts and Cohen Gardner Law.
