When they dust off John Williams’s “Duel of the Fates”, you know it’s serious.
Disney+ has dropped the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi which debuts on the streamer May 25 — and it looks good. Really good.
Directed by Deborah Chow and written by Joby Harold, the series welcomes back Ewan McGregor as he reprises his role as the iconic Jedi. The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. Let’s not forget Obi-Wan annihilated Anakin on Mustafar and made him into an evil machine with bad asthma.
Joining the cast are Moses Ingram as the force-sensitive Inquisitor Reva who is basically hunting Jedi. The series also features Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.
