“Meet Viktor Hargreeves,” Elliot Page wrote on his Instagram page, giving us the first look at Viktor in the third season of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy which is set to drop on the streaming giant on June 22.

For the first two seasons of the series based on the comics by Gerard Way, Page’s character went by Vanya Hargreeves, a a badass cis woman who has the power to harness sound and fuck some people up. In the new season, the character will come out as trans, using he/him/his pronouns and still have violin-infused badass powers (as far as we know).

“Welcome to the family, Viktor — we’re so happy you’re here,” said Netflix on their Instagram account, welcoming the character to The Umbrella Academy fold.

After coming out as trans at the end of 2020, Page was still set to return to the third season of The Umbrella Academy. And with Viktor coming out as trans in the alt superhero series, it’s quite poetic and we applaud it.

Page is joined by Tom Hopper as Luther, David Castañeda as Diego, Emmy Raver-Lampan as Allison, Robert Sheehan as Klaus, Aidan Gallagher as Five, Justin H. Min as Ben, Colm Feore as Reginald, Ritu Arya as Lila, Justin Cornwell as Marcus, Britne Oldford as Fei, Jake Epstein as Alphonso, Genesis Rodriguez as Sloane and Cazzie David as Jayme.

After going back in time to 1963 and saving the world at the end of the second season, the third season will pick up where the Hargreeves siblings left off. In an altered timeline, Reginald created the Sparrow Academy, a stylish and smart group of superheroes that mirrors the Umbrella Academy. After a violent confrontation, the two groups must learn to team up and defeat a new entity that threatens to destroy everything.
