If you’re a kid of the ’80s, Ron Howard’s Willow was EVERYTHING. In retrospect it gave star Warwick Davis a time to shine and it was filled with fantasy that was exciting and fun! Remember the scene when Bavmorda (played by the legend Jean Marsh) turned everyone into pigs? Bavmorda was an ICON.
In any case, a new trailer for the series based on the movie and starring Davis and a rainbow coalition of actors was unveiled during the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim today — and it couldn’t make me more excited for this series.
Willow began with an aspiring magician from a Nelwyn village and an infant girl destined to unite the realms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness. Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.
Jonathan Kasdan, Ron Howard, Wendy Mericle, Kathleen Kennedy, and Michelle Rejwan serve as executive producers.
Willow premieres on November 30 on Disney+.
