Insecure alum Yvonne Orji is about to get swole.
Netflix is developing a woman-fronted bodybuilding series Stronger (wt) with Orji starring and executive producing, according to Deadline. Stronger is created and written by Up in the Air’s Sheldon Turner and comes from A+E Studios.
The project is under wraps, but the girls at Deadline are saying that it follows Toni Winslow (Orji), a single mom who feels unseen and unimportant. She becomes obsessed with bodybuilding as she explores the surprisingly tenuous line separating self-empowerment from self-destruction, and will undergo not only a physical transformation but also an emotional one.
Orji earned an Emmy nom for her performance as BFF Molly in the critically acclaimed and trailblazing series Insecure. She starred in the comedy Vacation Friends and debuted her HBO stand-up special Momma, I Made It! in 2020 and her debut book Bamboozled by Jesus: How God Tricked Me Into the Life of My Dreams was published in 2021
Turner and Jennifer Klein executive produce via their Vendetta Productions alongside Orji and her manager DC Wade of Odenkirk Provissiero. A+E Studios is the studio.
