Icon Brandy — yes the Brandy Norwood is set to hit the big screen in the upcoming psychological thriller The Front Room, the feature directorial debut of The Eggers Brothers, Max Eggers (The Lighthouse) and Sam Eggers (Olympia). This A24 film seems like a different direction for Norwood and we love to see it.

Based on a Susan Hill’s short story of the same name, the Eggers Brothers adapted the it and will direct. The story follows a young, newly pregnant couple forced to take in an ailing stepmother who has long been estranged from the family. Norwood is joined by Kathryn Hunter (The Tragedy of Macbeth), Andrew Burnap (Snow White) and Neal Huff (Spotlight).

Norwood was recently seen in the music drama series Queens on ABC alongside Eve, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez. The Grammy winner is, of course, known for her era-defining music as well as the classic series Moesha. She also starred in the groundbreaking, hella-inclusive-ahead-of-its-time 1997 feature iteration of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella alongside Whitney Houston, Whoopi Goldberg, Paolo Montalban, Bernadette Peters, Victor Garber, and Jason Alexander. The iconic movie is currently having a moment as ABC recently aired Cinderella: The Reunion, A Special Edition of 20/20 which featured Norwood and many of her cast mates.

Norwood also isn’t a stranger to the feature thriller space as she also starred in the slasher sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer back in the day for the original franchise. Her credits also include Star, Zoe Ever After, The Game, Drop Dead Diva, and the 90210 revival.

A24 will produce alongside Lucan Toh, Babak Anvari and Bryan Sonderman of Two & Two Pictures and Julia Oh and David Hinojosa of 2AM. A24 to finance and handle worldwide releasing.
