Manny Jacinto is going from The Good Place to… the Dark Side.
Deadline reports that Jacinto has been cast in the forthcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte on Disney+. The new series comes from Leslye Headland and Lucasfilm, Jacinto joins previously announced cast members Amandla Stenberg, Jodie Turner-Smith, and new Squid Game Emmy winner Lee Jung-jae.
The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging Dark Side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. In Star Wars lore, an “acolyte” can refer to individuals with Force abilities who learn from a more experienced Sith Lord.
As with all Lucasfilm or Disney projects, no details about the characters are have been unveiled.
In addition to his role as Jason Mendoza on the comedy The Good Place, Jacinto was recently seen in Top Gun: Maverick (which I recently watched on a plane, approriately) as well as the Amazon movie I Want You Back and the Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers. He is repped by CAA, Alchemy Entertainment, Vancouver’s Principals Talent Management and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
