On Saturday, October 25, filmmaker Réi is hosting an FYC screening at of his short film Shutter Bird at Laemmle Town Center in Encino with a Q&A moderated by DIASPORA’s own Dino-Ray Ramos!
Shutter Bird, a deeply personal short director by Justin “Réi” Ching, is a tense and emotional coming-of-age story about a troubled young photographer (Isabella Ferreira, Love, Victor) and a recovering misfit (Dallas Liu, Avatar: The Last Airbender) who yearn to escape their farm town in Santa Ynez Valley.
Réi co-wrote Shutter Bird with actor/writer/director Adriana Santos. He is currently developing Shutter Bird into his sophomore feature film with The Gotham Film & Media Institute. Réi recently directed the feature film Death Name for FOX Entertainment Studios and is currently in production on the documentary feature Merv and the Miracles with executive producer Michel Gondry.
The screening will take place at 11 am at the Laemmle Town Center (17200 Ventura Blvd #121, Encino). The screening will include a Q&A and reception.
