Join DIASPORA and filmmaker Baby Ruth Villarama for the Los Angeles theatrical release of her award-winning compelling Philippine documentary Food Delivery — a film that some people don’t want to be seen.

Food Delivery is a quiet resistance as everyday Filipino fishermen become are on the frontline in a geopolitical storm. The feature documentary exposes the escalating tension in the West Philippine Sea, through the eyes of those who live it daily: Filipino fishermen, Coast Guard, and Navy personnel. Far from policy tables and press rooms, these men risk their lives in contested waters under the threat of military aggression and territorial intimidation from China.

Shot in Dolby Vision 4K and Dolby Atmos, the film asks the urgent question: If the truth is dangerous, who profits from the silence?

The doc is in limited release starting October 24 — including in the L.A. area at the Laemmle Glendale. Villarama will be in L.A. to partake in post-screening Q&As and DIASPORA’s Dino-Ray Ramos will be moderating the October 25 screening! The film will also screen throughout the weekend:

  • October 24 at 7:40 pm: Q/A with director Baby Ruth Villarama with Marty Syjuco
  • October 25 at 3 pm: Q&A with director Baby Ruth Villarama with Yong Chavez
  • October 25 at 7:40 pm: Q&A with director Baby Ruth Villarama and DIASPORA’s Dino-Ray Ramos

The film was set to headline the 2025 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival until the fest decided to chop it from its lineup. According to Rappler, Villarama and festival director Chris Cahilig announced the news citing “external factors” for the doc’s exclusion from the fest.

“As for whether it’s a form of censorship, I would say it certainly feels like it,” said Villarama in a statement. “The decision seemed to be driven by external pressures, and it appears our film was pulled [out] to avoid any potential disruption.”

To attend, please RSVP to FOODDELIVERY@dmagpr.com with the screening you want to attend! Space is limited!
