We had a taste of the Jeyemes Samuel-directed action western The Harder They Fall in June and we were immediately in because it was a traditionally white film genre populated dope Black actors and this talented up and coming director was serving us something fresh and exciting. Now that Netflix has released the full trailer we are invested and clearing November 3 to watch this on repeat.
From Idris Elba to Regina King to Jonathan Majors to LaKeith Stanfield to Zazie Beetz to Delroy Lindo, this trailer shows that every single soul in this film is bringing it. They are locked and loaded and ready to fire — and it’s gonna bring all the girls to the saloon.
The movie follows outlaw Nat Love (Majors) discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck (Elba) is being released from prison he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge. Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary (Beetz), his right and left hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler)—and a surprising adversary-turned-ally. Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including “Treacherous” Trudy Smith (King) and Cherokee Bill (Stanfield), and they are not a group that knows how to lose.
The film, which was written by Samuel and Boaz Yakin, also stars Danielle Deadwyler, Damon Wayans Jr. and Deon Cole. Samuel also produces alongside Shawn Carter (aka Jay Z), James Lassiter, and Lawrence Bender.
Executive producer is G. Mac Brow.
