Lifetime continues a new tradition of LGBTQIA+ holiday romances with its first lesbian holiday romance, Under the Christmas Tree as part of is “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” holiday movie slate. Under the Christmas Tree stars Tattiawna Jones, Elise Bauman, and Ricki Lake and will debut on Lifetime on December 19 at 8pm/7pm CT.
Lifetime gave us their first LGBTQIA+ holiday movie last year with The Christmas Setup starring Ben Lewis, Blake Lee and Fran Drescher. This year the network has 10 movies that include LGBTQ characters. This year’s holiday movie season is embracing queer story lines as Netflix will release its gay rom-com Single All The Way starring Philemon Chambers And Michael Urie.
Under the Christmas Tree centers on marketing whiz Alma Beltran (Bauman) and Christmas tree whisperer Charlie Freemont (Jones) whose paths cross when Charlie finds the perfect tree for the Maine Governor’s Holiday Celebration – right in Alma’s back yard. While they initially spar, romantic sparks soon begin to fly between the two women as the enchanting tree and some Christmas fairy dust from the town’s pâtissière extraordinaire (Lake) bring out the best in them and spark each other to take leaps of faith and fight for love and Christmas magic.
