Netflix just got a whole lot more Asian.
Today, the streaming giant launched Golden, Netflix’s new social media channel dedicated to celebrating the pan-Asian diaspora. The @NetflixGolden channels are now live on Instagram and Twitter so follow them ASAP!
Not to be confused with the AAPI collective Gold House or its box office initiative Gold Open (that’s a lot of gold), “Golden” celebrates Netflix’s pan-Asian talent both in front of and behind the camera and, like its cohorts, bolsters diversity, inclusion, and representation on the streamer’s platform and film and TV as a whole.
Golden joins Netflix’s other audience-focused including Strong Black Lead, Con Todo, and Most as well as genre channels Netflix Film, Geeked, and Netflix Is a Joke. The name Golden was inspired by the phrase “Real gold will always shine” and that all Asian stories are golden, and if given the opportunity, they will shine.
