Ryan Coogler‘s Proximity Media has set Paola Mardo as its new SVP and Head of Audio, Deadline reports.

Prior to joining Proximity Media, Mardo was the executive producer at Malcolm Gladwell’s Pushkin Industries. While there,she produced the Apple Fitness+ audio series Time to Walk. She was also the creator and host of the docu-podcast Long Distance. She produced the series that spotlighted stories in the Filipino diaspora with Patrick Epino Her other credits include the Los Angeles Times’ Asian Enough, KCRW’s Good Food as well as KPCC’s The Frame.

Mardo joins the company headed by Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, Ludwig Göransson, Archie Davis and Peter Nicks. She will build out a full audio team with the goal of producing multiple original podcasts as well as podcasts designed to supplement and support its films and television series.

The company is behind the Official Judas and the Black Messiah podcast, which was produced in partnership with Roman Mars’ 99% Invisible and has had 720,000 downloads since its 2020 launch. She will develop and produce all podcast and audio projects at Proximity Media.
