Miami is nice, so I’ll say it thrice…
Everyone has one thing that pops into their mind when they hear “The Golden Girls” and for some reason, that’s mine. Although the legendary sitcom starring late, great icons Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty takes places in Miami, it was mostly shot in Los Angeles which happens to be the setting for an upcoming pop-up restaurant experience The Golden Girls Kitchen from Bucket Listers, an online platform that showcases the best events in Los Angeles and beyond.
Derek Berry, the Bucket Listers Director Experiences, is behind this pop-up. He is essentially the Godfather of nostalgic pop-up experiences which started with the Saved By the Bell pop up Saved by the Max as well as experiences for Nickelodeon’s Good Burger, Beverly Hills 90210’s The Peach Pit, The Breaking Bad Experience as well as Mooby’s from the Kevin Smith cinematic universe.
The Golden Girls Kitchen is an OFFICIALLY LICENSED immersive experience and fully realized homage to the foundation of all that is television, The Golden Girls. Debuting in Los Angeles in the heart of Beverly Hills this July, the experience will be a fully functioning restaurant and bar that transports guests to a world where Dorothy will read you to filth, Blanche will share her sexual escapades while Rose and Sophia will tell tales from St. Olaf and Sicily, respectively.
“Bringing Golden Girls to life has always been a dream of mine” said Berry. “Our team is confident that both die hard fans of the show and first timers alike will leave with a deeper appreciation for the show’s lasting legacy. We couldn’t be more excited to launch The Golden Girls Kitchen!”
Considering they ate cheesecake in almost every single episode, The Golden Girls Kitchen will be a fast-casual restaurant with an emphasis on desserts. The purchase of every ticket will include a reserved seat and guaranteed window of time to dine, choice of an entree, and of course, cheesecake.
Menu items include appropriately themed items Sophia’s Lasagna (meat or vegan), Blanche’s Georgia Style Cookies, The Dorothy: A Miami Style Sandwich and a full beverage menu including the Tea Arthur and Rose on Rosé.
Like the pop-ups before it, The Golden Girls Kitchen will have many Instagrammable moments pulled right from the show including the kitchen table, lanai, and the iconic palm print from Blanche’s room. Take a spin through Shady Pines on your way to the popup store featuring an exclusive Golden Girls merch. Fans can also expect a rotating assortment of special events, local chef collaborations, panels, and additional merch drops throughout the duration of the pop-up’s run.
