Thank You for Being a Friend: The 40th Anniversary of The Golden Girls – 7 pm, October 23: Part of the Paley Archive’s monthly “Conversation with a Curator” series, Paley Curator Allison Kraft and Jim Colucci, author of Golden Girls Forever: An Unauthorized Look Behind the Lanai celebrate the cultural impact of the iconic TV series. Forty years ago on September 14, 1985, the world was introduced to Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia—The Golden Girls. Met with critical acclaim for its quick-witted and sharp writing, humor, and incredible ensemble cast, the show features four single women sharing a home together in Miami, navigating their golden years through friendship. The Golden Girls has become a long-lasting tribute to female friendships and is widely considered one of the greatest shows of all time. Join Paley curator Allison Kraft for a conversation in celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Golden Girls, with clips from the Paley Archive to remind us why Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia are still some of our greatest friends.
